Main BodyAime has exhibited her work in London and was part of a group exhibition called 'Mid-Winter Trio' at the Creative Tauranga Gallery in July 2010 with Stephen Crowther and Martin Phillips. She sought to capture herself as an artist at work: journeying on the landscapes of the sub-consciousness. It is a good example of the innovative and advanced photographic artwork that makes up some of her current art practice. Aime is a self-taught visual artist whose interest in the media of digital painting is all consuming and adventurous. When I ask Aime to talk about her digital art, she says: “I am aware that there are prejudgements about digital painting, but it requires the same amount of talent and skill as the traditional techniques. “As for the content, I feel I have been influenced by visual symbols of ancient cultures and some of the minimalist art of the modern era. “I like to play with simple forms and see what I can make from them. “In a number of pictures I have only used red, black, white and their shades for colouring. “I am attracted to the power of these strong colours.” Portrait of a Woman (2010). In Aime's 'Portrait of a Woman' she seeks to depict eternal female nature and the sometimes mysterious forces of nature that naturally gravitate towards her. Aimie is also an active and dedicated writer who has published poetry, a collection of short stories and a book of humorous stories about her experiences in London. During 2011, Aime was preoccupied with writing and would now like to focus on her digital art again in preparation for a Tauranga exhibition sometime in the future.
