Harold John Brister was born in Wellington 6th December 1907 to William John and Edith Brister. He was the 1st pupil to attend Whakamārama schoolin 1914. He moved to Waikino where he worked as a youth in the fitting shops at the Victoria Mill from the 5th November 1923 to the 5th January 1929. He met and married Doris Kathleen Hodges in 1932. Unfortunately she passed away in 1937 at the age of 27. He later moved to Tauranga where he married Phyliss Harlotte-Hill in 1941. He had 2 sons. He then went onto marry a third time to Katherine Victoria Hardie in 1966.. In Tauranga he owned an Engineering Business called Wallace and Brister until retiring.
