Built up by Denny at the Cooper works, then he raced it through Europe in 1960 before bringing to NZ. From memory it went to Roly Levis to Bill Stone amongst others. Hulme came from Pongakawa BOP just along from Tauranga. Possibly the photo was taken along with all the European silver soon after arrival in NZ ."

Denny Hulme was a notable figure in motorsport history. Born in Pongakawa his early career saw him working closely with the Cooper Car Company. In the late 1950s, he moved to the UK to pursue racing, which was a turning point in his career.
In 1960, he raced the Cooper T52 Formula Junior, a car that he himself built up at the Cooper works. His involvement with the T52 was more than just as a driver; his hands-on work on the car showcased his deep understanding and mechanical skills. After competing with it throughout Europe in 1960, he brought the car back to New Zealand, where it was indeed raced by several other drivers including Roly Levis and Bill Stone. He eventually joined the Formula One circuit, driving for Brabham and later McLaren. He won the Formula One World Championship in 1967.
