The Rena by Kahurangi Kingi (Maungatapu School)

DescriptionIn 2011 Maungatapu School's Room 13 (year's 2 & 3) wrote poetry in reaction to the Rena disaster. The poetry and posters appeared in a window display at Tauranga City Library.

The ship is moving the wrong way
It's the wave that's moving it, oh no we are going to crash.
Sluge, blop, bang.
Oh no there's oil all over Papamoa beach.
Dead penguin, birds, fish and seals.
The water and waves are covered with oil.
Everyone joins in,Including the army to clean up the mess.
The people angry because they can't do their work anymore.
