The Pātiki and Nihoniho patterns go well together, representing hospitality. We have used this pattern to show how well Māori and Pākehā can work together. The well-known whakatauaki (proverb) 'Nau te rourou, nāku te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi'. 'By your food basket and mine, the people will be nourished', reflects the meaning behind the panel.
Pātiki me Nihoniho.
He hoa ngātahi te Pātiki me te Nihoniho, hei tohu manaaki. Hei whakaatu anō hoki i te mahinga ohu ā Ngāi Māori me Ngāi Tauiwi. Ko te whakataukī nei te tūāpapa, 'Nau te rourou, nāku te rourou, ka ora ai te iwi'.
