To some, the aesthetic qualities of beauty of surroundings and luxurious comfort are necessary to the humdrum annual task of sitting on eggs and raising their young. In the shade house at Collins' fushia nursery hang from many baskets from the slatted roof, all with flourishing varieties of pendant fushsias, and in one of these, unperturbed by the swaying motion of the basket or the daily shower when the fushsias are watered, a thrush has put het nest together, quite undetected by the owners, and set about the business of laying her eggs. It wasn't until a particular- ly heavy sprinkling at the evening watering sent the bird flitting that Mrs Collins noticed that her hanging basket was being put to real estate.
