Born in Meath, Ireland in 1832. Immigrated to New Zealand on the Bank of England, 28 December 1855. Elizabeth married on 31st May 1864 to Captain Thomas Tunks (1809-1886), a retired Imperial Army Officer. Tunks Reserve is possibly named in his honour, or that of his son, Alfred Francis Daly Tunks. Elizabeth and Thomas Tunks had three children:
* Mary Tunks - who married John Bull, a Mayor of Tauranga
* Alfred Tunks - a Mayor of Tauranga who married Fanny Kirk in Tauranga
