<p style="text-align: right;"> </p> <p style="text-align: center;"><img style="font-size: 12.16px; line-height: 1.3;" src="http://images.sunlive.co.nz/images/110111-pete-morris-blog-Janice-Giles.jpg" alt="" width="468" height="220"></p> <p style="text-align: center;"><em>Janice Giles.</em></p> <p>“Each person treads their own unique path, and each personal life map is different,” says Janice, “however, the territories of experience and development tend to echo universal themes that can be navigated.”</p> <p>Paintings in Janice’s pending solo exhibition at Creative Tauranga Community Gallery, ‘A Brush with Meaning’, include evocative images that invite the viewer to reflect on what the works mean for them, and to consider the potential of dialogue and an evolving relationships with the works. </p> <p>Janice believes that “the meaning we make of an image deepens as we, and our way of making sense of what we see, shifts and changes over our lifespan”.</p> <p>Recent works include: ‘<em>Seeker in Shadowland' </em>(pictured right) and ‘<em>Eve has Serious Questions about her Navel</em>’.</p> <address><strong><em>Seeker in Shadow Land</em></strong></address><address><em>What does she seek? </em></address><address><em>Where is she going?</em></address><address><em>Who or what does she see?</em></address><address><em>Who or what sees her?</em></address><address> </address><address><strong><em>Eve has Serious Questions about her Navel</em></strong></address><address><em>Eve considers her navel</em></address><address><em>Wonders where she came from</em></address><address><em>Questions family myths</em></address><address><em>Asks: Who am I?</em></address><address><em>And how will I find out?</em></address> <p>Janice plans to include some canvasses of work created directly from life drawing in her exhibition. She has previously participated in Creative Tauranga’s Double Vision exhibition as a writer, and in their Celebration exhibition as an artist.</p> <p><em>‘A Brush with Meaning’</em> is the first exhibition at the Creative Tauranga Community Gallery for 2011.</p> <p>You are welcome to attend the opening of Janice’s first solo exhibition at 5.30pm on January 13.
