DescriptionA shot hole through the sail of Q17, a WWI Mystery Ship under the command of New Zealander Lieutenant A.D. Blair with Sub Lieutenant W.E Sanders V.C D.S.O as navigator. Shell holes through the sails of Q.17.
This photograph is sometimes misattributed to H.M.S. Prize, the three-masted Schooner commanded by Sanders later in the war. However, this photograph clearly shows four square-rigged sails in the manner of a Brigantine and was in Blair's possession, probably a gift from Sanders as per his letters to Blair later in the war. Three-masted Schooners are not rigged in this manner.
A photo within an album of A.D. Blair.
