SummaryWrigley House, stood on Devonport Road in Tauranga, and was believed to have been built in the 1880s, possibly by early mayor J. C. Adams and a timber yard owner named Gray. By 1917, Adams had sold the property, which was then acquired by local chemist Jack Wrigley. The 1923 District Electors roll has John Wrigley (Chemist) at lot 237 on Devonport Road. Around 1914, resident Vera Cross described it as a comfortable, spacious six-room home with a long path leading to a lawn and scenic views. Built primarily from kauri wood, the house featured a slatted kauri roof later covered with iron sheets. In 1977, the house was demolished, but its kauri timber and chimney bricks were salvaged for future use in Tauranga’s historic village.
