Mr Thomas Wrigley's new store (wholesale and retail) on The Strand has been completed (brick one). Bakehouse at the rear with the largest ovens in Tauranga. Bay of Plenty Times, 25 March 1882.

George Moody has taken over bakery and George Maxwell has retired to Ōtūmoetai. 18 October 1916.
H.B. Mountfort has returned to Tauranga and is managing Mountfort and Baker's grocery again. Bay of Plenty Times, 26 June 1918.

John was the original baker, son George took over from John. Another son, also a baker, went away then came back to Tauranga and went into business with his son-in-law Brash. They took over J.H. Beale's grocery and bakery on The Strand c. 1926. They sold out to Wray (Jack or John) who had shop at entrance to the old hospital grounds. Maxwell went to Auckland.
Chum Denniston, in an article about the baker's oven behind the Masonic, got mixed up between Maxwell & Brash and the original Maxwell.
G. Maxwell sold to Moody. He was an Englishman. Sold to Bartram and son, came from Yorkshire, called Yorkie. Sold to Harnett. Tom Baikie took over from him, and he sold to Dedman, who sold to S.A. Woods.
The original bakery was on the right side of the Masonic, facing the shops from the gardens.
