Collection SummaryLand maps, within the maps collection of He Puna Wānanga, in the Tauranga branch of Te Ao Mārama - Tauranga City Libraries, hosts an extensive physical and digital collection of NZ survey plans and cadastral maps.DescriptionIn addition to the maps on Pae Korokī, Tauranga City Library subscribes to the Institute of Cadastral Surveying "Pre-300,000 Drawing Plans" database, currently installed on Research Computers within He Puna Wānanga at He Puna Manawa (Tauranga Library) as well as at the archive facility in Mount Maunganui. The database has well over 1.5 million drawings of all types, including:
Maori land plans
Private property plans
Towns and villages
Early development blocks and runs
Roll plans
Topographical mapping (1880 to 1950)
South Auckland large scale town and rural property record maps
Plan prefixes applied to Tauranga drawings:
DP - deposited plan, or DPS for maps created after the formation the South Auckland land district
LT - land title plan, or LTS for maps created after the formation the South Auckland land district
ML – Māori land, and
SO - Survey office
