DescriptionNew Zealand Mapping Service issued a number of mosaic maps from 1944 onwards to assist planning and post-war development.
The series NZMS 3 eventually provided extensive coverage of New Zealand, especially the North Island, with the last sheet being published in 1982.
NZMS 3 sheets are black-and-white aerial photo mosaics, typically at 1:15,840 (4 inches to 1 mile) in scale. They were compiled by NZ Aerial Mapping Ltd under the Lands & Survey Department.
