Born in 1902, Undine Moller moved to Tauranga following her 1925 marriage to Hector James Clarke. They raised five children, living in Clarke Road, Te Puna, in a two-storey 'Italian style' villa, constructed from thousands of concrete bricks Hector made by hand, and at Ōmokoroa. Cynthia C was the name of the family launch.
'A successful solo dancer in Auckland', she established the Undine Clarke School of Dancing, teaching hundreds of Bay of Plenty dance students ballet, ballroom, musical comedy, Spanish, traditional Highland.
She spent a year in Australia to qualify with the Advanced Teachers Certificate, the highest performer's qualification at the Royal Academy of Dancing. In London she received personal tuition from leading dance teachers of the time.
Honours:
British Empire Medal in 1969 for service to the community, particularly in the fields of arts and ballet.
Honorary life membership of: the Choral and Operatic Society; the Competitions Society; the Federal Association of Teachers of Dancing; the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing; the Repertory; the Royal Academy of Dancing.
