SummaryGeorge Crosley was born in Lancashire in 1897.

He arrived in Tauranga with his family in 1904, his father working as a tailor.

At the time of his army enlistment, George was working for Ashton and Crump, builders, as a bricklayer.

He served in World War I as a Trooper with the Auckland Mounted Rifles. He was killed in action during the battle of Chunuk Bair on 6 August 1915.

He is remembered on the War Memorial Gates at Tauranga's Wharepai Domain.
