Born Manoeka Te Puke 1898. Of Te Arawa Iwi by his mother's line. Father Scottish immigrant. Left school at primer three and taught hiself to read later in life, focused on the Bible.
Married Hazel Mary Rayner 1932. They had 24 children.
As a young married man a doctor told him to take a break. He went to Mōtītī Island and one month became 27 years. Took over cousin’s farm when cousin died. Working life revolved around farm work, horses and machinery. Sister Bella there married Kepa Nuku. His family grew large on the island.
Returned to mainland Tauranga later in life. Chairman Manoeka Marae Trustees.
Died Manoeka Te Puke 1993. Buried Otaraninia Urupā.
