Editorial re Guardian. We quote from our contemporary of Saturday evening's issue, in which it stated that on account of the failing health of the Tauranga Guardian's proprietors it was considered advisable to allow it to change hands etc. Bay of Plenty Times, 20 March 1883.
Messrs Browne Bros, late proprietors of the Tauranga Guardian which ceased publication some short time ago are to establish a bi-weekly paper in Ōpōtiki. Machinery of Guardian to be shipped to Ōpōtiki on the first steamer. Ōpōtiki Herald first issue on 5 May 1883. Bay of Plenty Times, 24 April 1883.
