1982: In June club volunteers spent over 300 hours and used more than 100 litres of paint stripper on the Club's twin-engined Piper Aztec, before it was flown to New Plymouth for a professional paint-job in the club's colours. Club captain, Mr Ron Adamson said it was 'the first time club members had taken on a project of this kind...by doing the work ourselves we will save about $2500". Bay of Plenty Times, 1 June 1982.
