SummaryHeather was the second of four daughters born in Tauranga to Thomas and Esme (Essie) Milne.
She married Bill McLean in March, 1965 and had two sons.
Heather was very involved with genealogy, volunteering for over 40 years in the sector. She became a member of the Tauranga Branch of the New Zealand Society of Genealogists in 1972. She worked on 11 local cemeteries' headstones transcriptions, gifting the volumes to the library. She created an index of Bay of Plenty Times death notices and obituaries, and created an index of NZ air-related deaths.
Shortly before her death in 2019, Heather was awarded a Queen's Service Medal for services to genealogy and historical research.
