SummaryRydal House at 29 Grey Street, Tauranga, was designed in 1954 and purpose-built in 1955 as the local Public Trust offices. Its solid presence draws on a combination of modern and traditional design elements appropriate to a mid-twentieth-century civic building. The architect, Stanley Fearn, had previously designed Public Trust offices throughout New Zealand and was the first recipient of the Gold Medal awarded by the New Zealand Institute of Architects in 1927.SourcesCentral Tauranga Heritage Study : part two, April 2008, page 28
