SummaryNew Zealand railway engineer, soldier, technical educator and community leader, born at Thames to Robert Henry Muir and Sarah Maude Allely; married Winifred May McDonald. After South Pacific service during the Second World War, he taught at Tauranga College and Tauranga Boys’ College, 1947–1971, becoming head of engineering. He chaired the committee promoting the Bay of Plenty Polytechnic, commanded school cadets, and served Rotary, Gate Pā Domain, Equity Workshops and local theatre.
