Date2011DescriptionThis painting by Tauranga artist Elliot Mason was inspired by the aftermath of the 2011 Rena Disaster. In 2013 wellknown local artist Peter Cramond brought together a group of fellow artists from Tauranga to present an exhibition that reflects on the Rena disaster and the events that followed the 5th of October 2011 tragedy. The artworks explored the idea that our actions directly impact on our environment and this has far reaching consequences for the welfare of our marine ecosystems and the future of our planet. Different physical, emotional and spiritual responses of the artists following the event were to be seen in the many works on display.
