Broadcaster and Village Radio volunteer, James Hartstonge, founded the Tauranga District Museum Oral History Unit in 1988. The unit recorded 66 interviews in three years. This interview with Duff Maxwell is one of these. It was conducted at The Elms, Tauranga. The length of the recording is 36:39 minutes.

Duff Heron Maxwell was born in Rahotu, Taranaki, in July 1903 to Ebenezer and Pattie Maxwell. He came to Tauranga in 1949 to take over the
guardianship of The Elms.
