Broadcaster and Village Radio volunteer, James Hartstonge, founded the Tauranga District Museum Oral History Unit in 1988. The unit recorded 66 interviews in three years. This interview with Miss Kathleen Joan Mirrielees (Joan) is one of these. It was recorded at her home in Cameron Road. The length of the recording is 41:00.
Joan was born in 1903 to Alexander and Violet Mirrielees. Joan was a school teacher and keen local historian. She was a recipient of the Tauranga Heritage Award. Joan came to Tauranga with her parents and twin brother in 1910.
