    Reference Number1969.0019DescriptionDaguerreotype of Susan Nevell, daughter of William and Susan Nevell, when a young girl, mounted in a wallet or book form. Susan was born in India on the 14th of March 1854, and died in Dresden 14 December 1871. The daguerreotype has a gold matboard and frame and is glazed. The inside of the front cover oposite the daguerreotype is lined with what may have originally been a red velvet (it is now a mustard yellow), that has a scroll pattern stamped onto it. The outside is covered in a brown leather, that has a floral pattern with a scrollwork border stamped into the leather. The daguerreotype closes with two fine hooks on one side. At the time of cataloguing the daguerreotype was wrapped in tissue and had a note with it, written in blue ink on a scrap of writing paper, which read: "Susan, so very like her father."
