Henry worked as an excavator at Cleeve Quarry, which was owned by Mr Eaglestaff. It was a limestone quarry and limestone was used to form the roads in Bristol and the surrounding area.
On Saturday the 25th March 1862 Henry was engaged with others in blowing up rocks at Cleeve quarry, by the river side and took shelter from the falling rocks under an archway. A large stone however struck the side of the arch and spilt in two ,one of the pieces struck Henry on his head Henry died from injuries sustained on the 29th March 1876 at the Temporary Royal Infirmary from the injures sustained
