Elizabeth Self

Elizabeth Self was born Chilcompton Somerset in 1816 the eldest daughter of John Self and Mary Hillier.

Elizabeth was baptised on the 28th   July 1816 at Chilcomption  Church by Re L Fordiffe.   John Self occupation as carrier.

Elizabeth married Henry Silcox on the 15th Dec 1839 in Varteg near Pontypool in Wales. The witnesses were Thomas Self and Jane Self.

Henry's occupation was  given as a  Miner, Henry age 20, Elizabeth age 24

 Elizabeth and Henry moved to Bristol in 1841.  They are living in   South Green Street Clifton  ,  Henry is a Quarryman

In 1851 and 1861  they lived at 1 Crown Court  South Green Street Clifton

By1871  Elizabeth, Henry and family are living at 2 Cumberland Cottage Clifton Bristol

Henry worked as an excavator at Cleeve  Quarry, which was owned by Mr Eaglestaff   It was a limestone quarry and limestone was used to form the roads in Bristol and the surrounding area .

Children of Henry and Elizabeth are Henry John James b 1843 ,Mary Elizabeth b 1845, Martha Charlotte b 1847 ,Alfred Self b 1849, Edward Charles b 1852 , Lucy Matilda b 1854 , Lucy Matlida b 1856 , Sarah Ann b 1858 and Isaac Charles b 1860
