George Jefferies
George was born in Pucklechurch Gloucestershire in 1831. The third son of Thomas Jefferies and Betty nee Rogers,.
George was baptised 20th November 1831 at parish Church, St Thomas Pucklechurch. Dad Thomas's occupation was given as a labourer The family moved to Mangotsfield between 1835 and 1850 and lived in a cottage opposite the church.
In the 1851 census the family are living at Vinney Green Mangotsfield .
George married Mary Moreman (daughter of John and Betty Moreman )on the 20th October 1850 at St George's Bristol .Both signed certificate with a X .
George worked at the Parkfield coalmine
George attended the Bristol Trade and Mine school. At the prize giving in September 1858 George received the prize for Knowledge of underground work .He was the Mine Overman (supervisor)of the Parkfield Mine
George and his family lived in Mangotsfield for the rest of his life his life , living in Emerson Green in 1861
George was an elder in the local St James Church Mangotsfield
By 1901 he had left the Coalmine and gives his occupation as a Jobbing Mason .
George died on 4th April 1908 age 76 and is buried beside his wife Mary in the St James Churchyard Mangotsfield
Probate 29th May 1908 at Bristol to Robert Jefferies engineer and Lewis Ball Assistant Overseer .Effects 701 Pounds 15 shillings and 8 pence
