Early life and family: Born in Nailsea, Somerset, England in 1875, came to New Zealand with his parents who settled in Auckland. He later lived in Tauranga and spent the last 23 years in Tauranga. His obituary notes wife, 3 sons, 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren in 1941.
