Private Albert Davenport is remembered by Tauranga resident and grandson Alan Stanyer. The Memorial Plaque of Albert Davenport (below) has been passed down through the family. After the First World War the next-of-kin to all war dead were given such a plaque. Commonly called a "Dead Man's Penny" they were awarded to 1,355,000 people.
Albert was buried in the Piraeus British Naval Cemetery in Athens, Greece (Grave 13).
