SummaryThe mosaics in Greerton Village were created by artist Liz Roris in 2002 as part of the reconstruction of Greerton Village. Each panel tells a story. The information in this story comes from an article by Stuart Whitaker in the Bay News on Wednesday, 7 August, 2002 (Greerton Village Bulletin). The mosaic walls come under the Public Art Policy 2015. Main BodyIn 2002 local mosaic artist and tutor Liz Roris created a range of stunning mosaics in Greerton. The mosaics were created on a fibreglass mesh at Liz's Mount Maunganui studio and then transported to Greerton and fixed into place. Liz began the design work in March 2002. After five months the final piece was put in place with the help of Khan Maguire and Alan Smith. The mosaics add a colourful dimension and a distinctive character to Greerton Village. Features of the village, including the golf course and race course, have inspired some mosaics, with others depict rural images such as lizards, fish in streams, flowers and birds. The mosaics are on both Cameron and Chadwick Roads.
