The globe was fixed to a table in the master's cabin in the Finnish four-masted barque 'Pamir', when the ship was seized as a 'prize of war' in Wellington, New Zealand on 3 August 1941 (Finland had been declared as a territory in enemy occupation). Captain Bjorkvelt took the globe with him, and later gifted it to Captain Munro.
