The Bay of Plenty Times identified the house as originally built for Mr A.W Burrows using Kauri, it was situated at 18 First Ave, Tauranga and included a wine cellar underneath. The last owners of the property were the Odey family, who owned it from 1942. The first Tennis Court in Tauranga was formed on the adjoining property in the late 1840s. The District Elector roll for 1959 has Mr Robert Odey as residing at 18 First Avenue.
