Reference NumberPhoto 02-256DescriptionThere are two possibiilities as to what this photo contains. 1. Part of the peace celebrations parade after World War I, Tauranga, 1919. Man with hands in pockets under the 'O' of 'Clothing' was W. R. Nankeavis. He was secretary of Gamman Bros, timber millers. Centre of the 3 smoking policemen top right was Constable Arthur Skinner. (Notes written by Lyn Harpham) 2. As a fundraiser during the First World War a Mock Court was held in August 1915. This may be a photograph of this activity. Prominent Tauranga citizens, men and women, were 'arrested', 'charged' and in some cases fined on the spot. Others were taken to the mock court at a local dance hall and faced a judge and jury of their peers (Fiona Kean).
