SummaryVi Simmons (1900-2001) was a midwife and long-time resident of Tauranga, New Zealand. Her grandfather, a member of the First Waikato Militia, arrived in Tauranga in 1864, and her father was born in 1866. Vi's mother immigrated from Belfast, Ireland. Vi established and ran the Launceston Maternity Home. for over 15 years. She also worked as a district nurse, often accompanying the official district nurse on her rounds.
