SummaryDorothy Jackson trained as a nurse at Auckland Hospital, graduating with honours in December 1929.
After a year as a staff nurse, she trained at Campbell Johnstone hospital in Hamilton and then did mid-wifery at St Helens, again passing with honours.
In November 1933 Dorothy moved to Tauranga and started Thornecliffe Private Hospital at 19 Edgecumbe Road, with Sister Jessie Watson.
Both nursing Sisters were actively involved in Red Cross, Crippled Childrens and many other local organisations. They were both made Honary Members of the N.Z. Registered Nurses Association and in 1956 Dorothy Jackson started a Tauranga Branch of the Business & Professional Womens Association. She was president for three years.
