Auckland, 30 May 1877
My dears Sir and Bro,

On the recommendation of Bro Rhodes and the several members signing the requisition for a Charter, I now feel much pleasure in appointing ** instituting officer for Tauranga. You will ** mail receive ** parchment commission and copy Charter with all the instructions I will be able to send you, as far as I can learn the Charter for the various Lodges are on the road out, ** ** please use the ** as per limited ** and write to one for any information you may require. ** have now in ** hands what will constitute a Lodge of real work to our fellow man. Bro. Rhodes will initiate ** and ** ** the ** ** and **, and I will try and send you the degree work, the pass and key I will also ** to you. Many God speed and prosper you.
