Harry Davis, an Englishmen, was a pupil of famous English potter, Bernard Leach, at St Ives in Cornwall in the 1950's. He and his wife May, also a potter, moved to New Zealand in 1962, having run potteries in London and Cornwall. They ran the Crewenna Pottery in Nelson for ten years, before a seven-year stint in the Peruvian Andes on an aid project. After that they spent the rest of their lives in New Zealand.
